PHOTOCONTEST GUIDELINES
- The photo contest is open to all Southeast Asian nationals except SEARCA employees and immediate family members.
- The theme is: “Climate Change and Agriculture in Southeast Asia: Faces of Vulnerability and Resilience.”
- All entries must be submitted during the contest period (1 September to 15 November 2014).
- There are no limits to the number of entries submitted by a contestant provided that these have not won previous photo contests or published elsewhere (print or electronic).
- Only colored photos will be considered, black and white photos will be disqualified. Entries must be digital, in JPEG format and at least 3,000 pixels wide for a horizontal image or 3,000 pixels tall for a vertical image at 300 dpi. There is no maximum file size or resolution as long as it can be uploaded via the online submission below.
- All entries must be original. Photos must not be digitally altered and/or enhanced in any way other than simple cropping. Watermarked photos will be disqualified.
- Each entry should include the following details in English:
Name and nationality of photographer - Caption for the photo, which must be accurate and complete enough to convey the circumstances in which the photograph was taken
Where the photo was taken (include town/municipality, province/state, and country) - When it was taken (complete date)
- Camera used.
- Submission of entries to the contest indicates full permission granted to SEARCA to use the photographs, with proper credit to the photographer, in knowledge packaging, sharing, and advocacy related to SEARCA’s mandate.

WHAT TO CAPTURE
The millions of people in Southeast Asia who depend on agriculture are among the hardest hit by the consequences of climate change, which are increasingly devastating and far-reaching. At the same time, these people are also the ones for whom climate change resilience is most essential and critical. This year’s photo contest will highlight the two opposite facets of climate change—vulnerability and resilience.

SEARCA PHOTO CONTEST 2014 will award entries that best capture how vulnerable Southeast Asian agricultural communities are to climate change OR what these communities are doing to respond to the challenges of climate change. We are looking for photographs that emphasize climate change vulnerability and resilience initiatives at the individual, household, and community levels.

JUDGING
Judging consists of two rounds of evaluation. In the first round, 50 photographs will be shortlisted from among all eligible entries based on relevance to the theme and impact.

The shortlisted entries will be qualified for the People’s Choice Award, which will be done through
Facebook
voting.
In the final judging, judges will collectively select the first, second, and third prize winners from the 50 shortlisted entries based on the following criteria: relevance to the theme (40%), technical quality (30%), and impact (30%).
Winners will be chosen on or about January 15, 2015. Decisions of the judges are final and binding.
ANNOUNCEMENT OF WINNERS
Winners will be notified via e-mail. SEARCA has the right to offer the prize to the next winning entry if and only if the winner does not initiate any contact within two weeks after notification.
Winners will be asked to provide their bank information so their cash prizes can be remitted; their certificates of recognition will be sent by mail. The winning photos will also be showcased in the Photo Contest Gallery on the SEARCA website, its Facebook page, and the Center’s LED Board.
